This morning, I was reminded of something simple but deep: I am never forgotten. I am being strengthened by the wait. God is an attentive listener and a faithful watcher.
There are so many scriptures that affirm this:
• “I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.” (Psalm 40:1 NIV)
• “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart.” (Psalm 27:14 NIV)
• “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their cry.” (Psalm 34:15 NIV)
This moment with God gave me a picture of the gym.
If you’ve ever strength trained, you’ve probably seen someone attempting a new personal record—lifting a weight they’ve never lifted before. And beside them, there’s always a spotter. That spotter isn’t doing the lifting but is always watching, always listening. Their job is to step in if and when needed—especially when the weight becomes too heavy.
The spotter doesn’t leave. They don’t ignore cries for help. And even if the person doesn’t cry out, the spotter is alert to signs of struggle. They help lift just enough so the person isn’t crushed. In the end, even if they didn’t succeed fully, the lifter, walks away stronger, wiser, and more confident for their next time.
God is like that. Actually— better.
God doesn’t just spot us physically. He spots us emotionally, spiritually, mentally.
God hears the silent struggle.
God sees the quiet endurance.
God never looks away.
God’s training us through the weight and strengthening us through the wait.
And like any good trainer, God is not trying to break us—God’s building us.
So, no, I’m not forgotten.
I’m not being crushed.
I’m not alone in the weight or the wait.
I’m being strengthened.
And God—my spotter—is watching with love, listening with care, and ready to lift when needed.
